Internal Inflammation and Your Skin

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

Hey y'all! Have any of you ever noticed that your skin looks extra red or swollen after a really stressful day? Or maybe you've tried everything under the sun to get rid of that stubborn acne, but nothing seems to work. It's possible that inflammation could be the culprit.

Inflammation is just our body's way of protecting itself and helping with the healing process. But when it's chronic, it can cause all sorts of problems, including skin issues. It can lead to redness, swelling, and even contribute to conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

So what can we do about it? First off, it's important to try and reduce internal inflammation. That's the kind of inflammation that's happening inside our body, even when there's no injury or infection present. Poor diet, stress, and lack of exercise can all contribute to internal inflammation.

One way to fight back is to make sure we're eating a healthy diet filled with fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. These types of foods are high in antioxidants and other nutrients that can help reduce inflammation.

Here are a few examples of foods that can help reduce inflammation in the body:

  • Leafy green vegetables like spinach and kale are high in antioxidants and phytochemicals that can help reduce inflammation.

  • Berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are also high in antioxidants and can help to reduce inflammation.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish like salmon and sardines can also help to reduce inflammation.

  • Turmeric is a spice that contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound.

  • Garlic and ginger both have anti-inflammatory properties and can be incorporated into a variety of dishes.

Exercise is also a great way to combat inflammation - it promotes blood flow and supports our immune system. And don't forget about stress management techniques like meditation and yoga!

It's also a good idea to use skincare products that are designed to reduce inflammation and promote healthy skin. Aloe vera, chamomile, and green tea are all great ingredients to look for - they have natural anti-inflammatory properties.

So there you have it - a few tips for fighting inflammation and keeping our skin looking its best. Remember, a healthy lifestyle and the right skincare products can go a long way in helping us achieve radiant, healthy skin.
